Enhancements in SPDRM v1.2.0

Process Management

The "Workflow Scene" window has been introduced to provide a unified workspace for both process design and process execution.

Each process instance is displayed in a separate tab, allowing easy multi-tasking.

A new simplified view for workflows has been added.

It is now possible to expand sub-processes in the same level with the main process.

The "Process Instance List" now supports also tree view mode with folder navigation behavior, and massive re-assignment of tasks.

The "Contents" window has been added to provide direct access to the contents of the node execution directory.

The "Palette" window has been introduced to enable the easy creation of workflow objects.

The "Start Node" and "End Node" have been introduced to signify the start and end points of a workflow.

It is now possible to cut, copy, paste, and rename nodes.

Added the option to use Eclipse IDE (instead of the built-in Script Editor) for editing the script of the nodes.

The "Search Definition Nodes" window now supports re-use, export and deletion of existing nodes.

Setup of MxN nodes: Added the possibility to combine more than one input data sets, and select among several assignment and execution modes.

Role-based access control (ACL) can be now also applied on processes, in addition to the execution privileges.

Data Management

Data archival and retrieval are now available.

A new GUI is introduced to support the data migration functionality.

Added support for customized types of library items with pre-defined set of properties and attributes ("rich" library items).

The contents of the "Components" containers in the DM Structure can be optionally displayed in a list, instead of having them expanded in the tree.

It is now possible to edit any file on the data tree and automatically save it back, either by overwriting the existing or by creating a new version of it.

Added support for the comparison between two arbitrary selected simulation models.

Traceability of files has been improved by providing access to the list of prior versions (overwritten) of a file.

All data search workspaces have been integrated into one and the lists of properties and attributes have been merged into a unified list.

Resources Management

The definition of mimetypes for DM items has been introduced, in addition to mimetypes for files.

The possibility to set role-based access control on the functionality of the SPDRM Client has been refined.

It is now possible to export and import the settings of the registered applications, mimetypes, variable types and roles/users, in order to transfer them from one installation to another.

Scripting

New function dm.selectFilesAndFoldersByPathTypeQueryResults enables the selection of one or more files or folders from the "Search DM" window.

Several existing script functions for DM items have been modified to support also the "rich" library items.

The dm.getEntitiesReferences was replaced by the dm.getDMItemReferences which supports both the DM items and the "rich" library items.

The dm.createLibraryItem has been added to support the "rich" library items.

New function process.instantiateWorkflow enables the instantiation of a workflow definition. It works in a similar fashion to the process.instantiateNode.

GUI

The meta-data of nodes displayed in the "Properties" sheet have been organized into rational categories, and information about the current (runtime) value of each slot has been added.

The table of the "Properties" tab in the "Data Manager" window has been renovated so as to keep the same style no matter which flavor of OS is used on the client machine. Filtering options have been also added.

Filter fields now support drop-down menus with pre-defined values (where applicable), in addition to free-form text.

Several pre-defined options have been introduced to facilitate the definition of dates and date ranges while searching or filtering data.

When selecting a slot, the connection lines that are attached to it are highlighted.

The option to flip horizontally the input/output slots of a node has been added, to improve the visualization of workflow loops.

Miscellaneous

Added support for multi-site configuration, using remote vaults with file caching functionality.

It is now possible to download the latest server log file from within the SPDRM Client.

Known Issues Resolved in SPDRM v1.2.0

Process Management

In some cases, an error could occur during the instantiation of application nodes that were created in SPDRM v1.1.3.

The order of the user options was not respected after closing the "Application Settings" dialog.

It was not possible to cancel the deletion action for nodes, when it was initiated from the "Process Instance List".

A process variable could not resolve its value, after setting its value to empty string.

The "Process Library" tree was not automatically refreshed, when an update was received by other clients.

Data Management

An error could occur when trying to expand the data tree, while in "Mine only" filtered view mode.

The new attributes of a component failed to be saved when editing and saving a new version of it, through the GUI.

Resources Management

An error could occur during the deletion of a user.

Mimetypes did not work properly when the file filters were defined in capital letters.

Scripting

In some cases, the script function dm.uploadFiles could import files in data tree with empty filename.

The value for all the properties was needed to be defined during the creation of the DM item, using the script function dm.createDMItem, even if some of them were defined by rules specified in the DM Structure xml file.

GUI

The "Expand" and "Collapse" actions on the data tree did not work properly for multi-selection of folders or DM items.

The data tree failed to refresh automatically its contents, after massive removal of components.

Supported platforms and System Requirements

The server software of SPDRM is currently available on Linux 64bits. The MS Windows flavour or the server software will be also made available soon. The client software of SPDRM are running under 64bit flavours of Linux and MS Windows.

The software requires a different license key to the rest of the products of BETA CAE Systems. This license key should be incorporated into the same license file, if such is already installed, and requires beta_lm, the proprietary license manager of BETA CAE Systems.

For details, refer to the System Requirements document.
